On August 5, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of Qasim Mohiuddin, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Azernews reports.
The ambassador presented his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.
The head of state then had a conversation with the ambassador.
Fondly recalling his state visit to Pakistan, the President of Azerbaijan noted the warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation, which he described as a demonstration of the friendship, brotherhood, and partnership between the two countries and peoples.
Touching upon the importance of the visit, the head of state hailed the fact that a broad range of cooperation matters were discussed and documents signed. President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that as a result of the state visit, Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations had entered a qualitatively new phase, as new areas of cooperation in various fields, including investment and energy, were outlined within the framework of the visit. The head of state said that both sides were working to implement the decisions and agreements reached and execute the documents signed during the state visit to Pakistan. The President of Azerbaijan noted the importance of the preferential trade agreement and emphasized that relevant institutions were working to supplement this document.
President Ilham Aliyev gave a positive assessment to the fact that Pakistan had not established diplomatic relations with Armenia due to the occupation of Azerbaijan’s territories even after the liberation of lands and full restoration of sovereignty, as a manifestation of true friendship and brotherhood. The head of state reiterated that the political support from Pakistani leadership during the Patriotic War was of immense significance for Azerbaijan.
The President of Azerbaijan wished Ambassador Qasim Mohiuddin success in his diplomatic activities.
Expressing gratitude for the kind words and reception, the ambassador conveyed sincere greetings from the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to the head of state.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings and asked the diplomat to convey his sincere greetings to the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Expressing his deep affection for Azerbaijan, the ambassador said that he was proud to represent Pakistan in such a beautiful country.
The ambassador noted that he would spare no effort in pursuing the strategic cooperation areas determined during the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Pakistan. He pointed to Azerbaijan's support for Pakistan, especially the importance of the just position on the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir issue in line with UN Security Council resolutions.
