From November 11-22, 2024, senior Biden-Harris Administration officials from over 20 US departments and agencies will visit Baku, Azerbaijan, to represent the United States at the 2024 UN Climate Change Conference (COP29), Azernews report, citing the US State Department.
This high-level delegation, led by John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy, aims to advance US leadership on climate action and secure significant outcomes for global climate initiatives.
The delegation will include prominent officials such as Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack, Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm, and Ali Zaidi, White House National Climate Advisor, among others.
Officials will cover various climate-related areas, including armed conflict, finance, food security, gender, global health, trade, youth issues, and more, underscoring the US commitment to comprehensive climate action.
