Establishing peace in the South Caucasus will pave the way for prosperity, which is what Armenia needs most, Azernews reports, citing the former Turkish Foreign Minister and the head of the delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Mevlud Çavu?o?lu, as he said in his speech at the second international conference of the Western Azerbaijan Community on the theme "The Right to Return: Advancing Justice for Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia."

He noted that Armenia's occupation of Garabagh caused many sorrows.

"The houses of the people who were taken from their homelands, their hopes for the future were taken from their hands. All Azerbaijanis were affected by this event. Unfortunately, the international community remained silent against the injustice suffered by Azerbaijan. However, it supported those who had done this oppression. But Azerbaijan liberated its lands after 30 years of occupation. Waving the Azerbaijani flag on the lands of Garabagh is a source of our pride.

We are very pleased with the speed of the restoration and construction works carried out by Azerbaijan in the liberated territories," he said.

Çavu?o?lu noted that the restoration of the cultural heritage of Azerbaijan, which had been destroyed in Armenia, is of great importance:

"It is regrettable that Armenia did not allow the UNESCO mission in this regard. Azerbaijan's patient and peace-oriented behavior should be appreciated."

It should be noted that more than 100 representatives from 51 countries are participating in the conference.

The event will discuss the history of the forced removal of Western Azerbaijanis from Armenia, the basis of their right to return, the restoration of their cultural heritage, and diplomatic efforts in this area.

It is worth noting that December 5 is the day of remembrance of the deportation of Western Azerbaijanis in 1987-1991. A similar international conference was held last year on the occasion. The international conference, dedicated to the topic "Ensuring the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia: the global context and a just solution", was attended by more than 100 representatives from 44 countries.
