Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with his Finnish counterpart, Elina Valtonen, on December 5, during the 31st meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council.
According to Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions covered bilateral cooperation prospects, Finland's upcoming OSCE chairmanship, and regional dynamics in the post-conflict period.
Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan's achievements in combating climate change during its COP29 chairmanship and emphasized the country's efforts to advance its climate action agenda. He also detailed the regional situation, focusing on demining efforts and the normalization process with Armenia.
"Despite significant progress, including agreements on many provisions of the peace treaty and advancements in border delimitation, Armenia’s territorial claims in its Constitution and legislative acts hinder the normalization process," Bayramov noted.
The Azerbaijani minister expressed support for Finland's OSCE chairmanship in 2024, stressing the importance of abolishing outdated OSCE institutions tied to the past Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict to enhance the Organization's effectiveness.
Both sides also exchanged views on other regional issues of mutual interest.
