Do you remember how several months ago, an anti-Azerbaijani
provocation began to be launched in Switzerland with the idea of a "peace
conference" for the Karabakh Armenians? This idea was actively promoted by
some deputies of the local parliament, especially from the French-speaking
regions.
Literally today, the authors of this topic have noticeably
"flown by."
A circus-like resolution was planned in the Swiss Federal
Council today, according to which local deputies called for an
"international peace conference" to be held in 2025, at which issues
related to the "security and collective return of the Armenians of
Karabakh" would be discussed.
Moreover, the clowns even voted for it! And it was accepted.
It was Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis who broke the deputies' buzz.
He called on his comrades to reconsider: Azerbaijan is
against holding such a conference and will not participate in it. Moreover,
holding any such event without Baku's consent would be a serious blow to
relations.
The minister isn’t a deputy; he’s engaged in real politics.
And he doesn't need any real problems with Azerbaijan.
The minister gave the frustrated deputies a reality check:
even Armenia refused the idea of this conference. Apparently, Pashinyan quickly
realized how things could turn out, was afraid of Baku's reaction, and,
according to the old Armenian tradition, reversed course.
The Swiss deputies were asked to disregard their own
resolution and go home.
In Paris, they say, they’re thinking hard: this scenario has
failed.
