There is one less sovereign state in the Parliamentary
Assembly of the Council of Europe. Georgia left the Assembly on Wednesday.
At the initiative of the European People's Party, the same
ugly scenario was played out against the Georgian delegation as a year ago
against the Azerbaijani parliamentarians. The only difference is that after
long discussions, the powers of the Georgian delegation were nevertheless
recognized, but with conditions that Georgia could not accept. A sovereign,
independent State has been subjected to gross interference in its internal
affairs and outright blackmail.
According to the Vice-Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia,
Tea Tsulukiani, the parliamentary delegation from Georgia stops working in PACE
after a resolution was adopted calling on the authorities of the republic to
hold new parliamentary elections. According to her, the opponents of the
Georgian authorities wanted the powers of the Georgian delegation not to be
recognized in PACE at all, but the body recognized the powers, but with certain
conditions, one of which is the holding of new parliamentary elections.
"Taking into account all the above, we, the members of the delegation of the Parliament of Georgia, discussed in Strasbourg and Tbilisi, and by a common decision of the Georgian Dream team, despite the fact that our powers have been approved, we will stop working in the Parliamentary Assembly from today," Tsulukiani said, adding that Georgia will resume work in the Parliamentary Assembly. The Council of Europe after the blackmail against the country and its people ends.
The Council of Europe voted to recognize the powers of the
Georgian delegation with the proviso that they would be suspended if Georgia
did not fulfill specific conditions within the agreed time frame. Georgia has
been given until April to demonstrate progress in meeting the conditions set
for it. The blackmailers demand that Tbilisi, if it wants to retain its right
to vote in PACE, "immediately initiate an inclusive process involving all
stakeholders and public figures, including the ruling majority, the opposition
and civil society, to urgently address the shortcomings and omissions noted
during the recent parliamentary elections and create an electoral environment
conducive to genuinely democratic new elections." elections to be
announced in the coming months." In addition, the government must release
all "political prisoners" before the April session.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze called the PACE
resolution absurd. "This decision shows that the European bureaucracy is
in a rather difficult situation. This applies to both Brussels and Strasbourg.
And the injustice that we have seen today has become another manifestation of
this. Even more than an injustice, it was an absolutely absurd decision,"
Kobakhidze said in an interview with Imedi TV channel.
Putting forward the conditions, the PA could not help but understand that Georgia would not agree to them. They understood, but they wanted to humiliate the recalcitrant Georgian government once again, to show their strength and authority. As expected, in response to the blackmail, the Georgian delegation waved and left the session. Now only Armenia sits in the Assembly from the South Caucasus. As the most obedient and ready to stand on her hind legs for the sake of getting a piece of sugar. It sounds rude, but the reality is even more rude. Obedience in the lexicon of European politics automatically turns into a commitment to democracy and human rights. Over the years of its membership in PACE, there have been many reasons to show Armenia the door as not conforming to the values of the Council of Europe. But during all this time, such a question has never been put on the agenda. This fact provides the most accurate description of the notorious European democracy. We are once again convinced that true, rather than declarative, independence and self-reliance are not welcome. But if you're obedient, you can be an occupier, you can commit genocide, destroy cities, and you'll still be in the cradle of democracy with your boyfriend.
Tbilisi is unlikely to be very upset about this outcome. I
think they expected something like this. The way they dealt with Georgia, in
principle, was expected. The campaign swirling around this country led to such
a denouement. If Tbilisi was not able to put pressure on the organization of
riots and color revolutions, if it was not possible to frighten by depriving
the prospects of the European Union, the Georgian government could only be
punished in this way. Expelling Georgia from the UN is short-handed. It is also
impossible to oust her, as well as Azerbaijan, from the Council of Europe,
since our countries will have enough friends there who will stop the orgy.
And the weather in PACE is made by the Armenian lobby and the Armenian delegation, whose members have been going to meetings for a whole year without a cord in their pocket, since no unrest is expected for them. No one will object to their slander, no one will challenge their insinuations, prevent them from adopting resolutions in the right format, like the one that was adopted the other day regarding the trial in Baku. It's so convenient. The current PACE level is MP Hayk Mamidzhanyan, hysterically, sorry, croaking into the microphone against Azerbaijan in the absence of Azerbaijan. This is Herr Schwebe, who, contrary to logic and reason, called the absence of the Azerbaijani delegation at the session (!) Baku's recognition of the charges against him. We probably missed the sign with the inscription "Azerbaijan".
The Georgian side should prepare for the fact that Georgia
will not soon be forgotten in PACE either.
It is sad to see how European institutions are shrinking and
losing themselves. It is already clear that the new world order will not be
completely West-centric. Europe no longer dictates fashion, it has ceased to be
an absolute center of attraction when countries were ready to kiss the
footprints of European bonzes for the sake of being accepted into a
"friendly European family." There are still pseudo-sovereign states
and those who have not found themselves in the independence that fell from the
sky. But in general, today Europe and the European structures themselves should
make efforts not to lose partners and friends. In the current harsh reality,
friends and partners are vital. Azerbaijan and Georgia have always been both
for Europe.
The PACE decision taken last January against Azerbaijan was
a strategic mistake. This January, this structure aggravated its consequences
by doing the same to Georgia. Well, all that remains is to say the words from
the famous movie: "then choose the color yourself and paint yourself, but
I'm not here."..
