The family of Aslan Maskhadov, the Chechen separatist leader killed in March 2005, have turned to President Tarja Halonen to seek asylum in Finland, a Helsinki-based the Finnish-Caucasian Association told on Monday.

As the Finnish News Agency (STT) reports, according to information obtained by the association, the family live in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, but feel unsafe there. Their passports have expired and they are afraid to attempt to renew them, the association added.
