Almost all of the participating states defended Azerbaijani position regarding this issue, Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchohur Mottaki told a news conference in Baku yesterday.
The Iranian Minister said he had useful talks with President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov. He said they discussed bilateral relations and further cooperation issues. Iranian and Azerbaijani Foreign Ministers were elected co-chairmen of the joint economic commission between the two states.
Mottaki also said the Palestine problem was highlighted at the session. The OIC member states always rendered assistance to the Palestinian people. The discussions at the session also focused on the terrorist acts in Iraq. The Foreign Ministers stated that Muslim states wish that stability be restored in Iraq soon.
The Iranian diplomat also noted that the Iraq problem will be discussed at the meeting of the eight OIC member states and Egypt in Iran July 8. The secretary generals of the OIC and the League of Arab States have also been invited to the meeting.
Mottaki also said there were statements on Iran's nuclear problem at the 33rd session in Baku. Great majority of the foreign ministers addressing the session supported Iranian position to use its nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. The diplomat thanked to the Islamic states foreign ministers for demonstrating such positions.
