USAID works out project on improvement of Azerbaijani Parliament's activity

USAID intends to implement a institutional structure project on Azerbaijani parliament.

USAID director on Azerbaijan James Goggin told journalists that within the project some issues such as all round discussion of bills and establishment of polling stations in the regions have been planned. He says that if the project is considered efficient, its implementation will start from this year.

The project will continue for 4 years and $5mln is planned to be allocated to it. Half of the funds will be spent within 2 years and the rest for the next stage.

Mr. Goggin stated that USAID allocated $31mln was allocated to five projects on establishment of civil society, development of economy and healthcare.

USAID projects decreased 10% in comparison with last year and it will spend only $28mln, APA reports.

"The decrease is linked to the fact that this year more expenditure is provided for. We have at the same time started to implement microfinance project. We contacted a number of structures in connection with allocation of credits to banks and other organizations. $6mln ahs been allocated to this project."
