Javad Derakhti: "Stockholm police didn't let Mahammadrza Kheshti hold congress under WAC name"

28 June 2006 [14:08] - TODAY.AZ
"The Congress of World Azerbaijanis (WAC) cannot possibly collaborate with swindlers, who are acting under other's names," said the WAC chairman Javad Derakhti, who is in Sweden now.

He said the talks for union with Mahmmadrza Kheshti and several persons around him have been halted.

"Mahammadrza Kheshti opened a bank account on the WAC name in a Swedish bank a month ago benefiting from some acquaintances. We were informed about this last week and we applied to that bank. The bank deactivated the account and notified the police of that. So, the congress that Mahammadrza Kheshti attempted to hold was prevented. They had to hold this meeting secretly. The renaming of the organization is related to this event.

Realizing that they cannot function under the name of the WAC, they named their organization as the Congress of Democratic World Azerbaijanis (DWAC)," Mr.Derakhti said.

Head of the DWAC bureau in Baku Yegane Amiraslanova in her statement denied the allegations made by Javad Derakhti. She said Derakhti applied to the Stockholm police for preventing holding of the congress. The police authorized the event after knowing its content.
