Afshar Suleymani: "We are ready for any expected UN Security Council resolution against Iran"

"Will Iran give quicker response to the proposals offered by the six-party if the Security Council adopts a Resolution that will impose economic sanctions on Iran?"

According to APA, the Ambassador said the embargo is not a new issue for Iran adding America has been imposing sanctions on Iran for many years.

"Iran has achieved its current progress, in particular, the achievements regarding its nuclear program under the pressure of embargo. The military, industrial improvements as well other scientific progress were also achieved during this period. So, the embargo brought benefits to us. I do not mean to say sanctions have no negative sides but anyway, have many positive sides," Mr.Suleymani said.

The diplomat noted that the issue on Iran's nuclear program has been on the agenda for three years.

The issue was discussed by several international organizations. The ambassador said his country will not respond to the package of offers regarding this issues earlier than 31 August, 2006.
