European Court to consider complaints on Azerbaijani parliamentary elections

The European Court of Human Rights will review 13 more complaints with regard to the November 6, 2005 parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

Intigam Aliyev, president of Legal Enlightenment Society, which defends complainants' rights at the European Court, told the APA the complainants are parliamentary candidates for 2005 elections Ilham Huseynli, Hasrat Rustamov, Eldar Namazov, Sulhaddin Akbar, Fuad Mustafayev, Yagub Mammadov, Intigam Aliyev, Shakar Isgenderli, Gulamhuseyn Alibayli, Adelet Yusubov, Annagi Hajibayli, Elchin Rzayev, Imayil Salkimov, Khaleddin Ibrahimli and Solmaz Rustamova.

The complaints are connected with the violation of the 3rd article (freedom of election) of Protocol 1 of the European Convention of Human Rights, 1st article of Protocol (property right), article 6 of the Convention (right to fair court proceeding), article 13 (efficient means of human rights defense), article 14 (avoiding discrimination).
Intigam Aliyev also said complaints made by 2005 parliamentary candidates Baybala Abil, Yagub Abbasov, Ali Karimli, Hasan Karimov, Isa Gambar, Namet Aliyev ad Arif Hajili were sent to Strasbourg Court. Complaint made by Ilham Huseyn, candidate in May 13, 2006 repeat parliamentary elections was submitted to the European Court early this month and Mahmoud Fattayev's complaint will be sent soon.
