Amnesty International: "Israel committed military crimes against Lebanese people"

23 August 2006 [13:27] - TODAY.AZ
Amnesty International accused Israeli government of military crimes against Lebanon.

Organization's latest report says Israeli militants deliberately targeted Lebanese civilians and civic establishments during the military operations.

Human Rights defenders say Israeli Army has launched missiles on food shops, electric stations, water sources and hospitals intentionally.

"The aim was to deport the Lebanese people from their homes. The kidnapping of Israeli soldiers by Hizbullah does not justify Israel’s attacks," the report says.

In the report titled "Israel/Lebanon: intentional destruction and indirect damage" Israel is said to have launched 7,000 missiles and 2,500 ground offensives on more than 7,000 objects during the five-week war.

1,100 people have been killed. One third of them are children. 4,000 people were injured and 970,000 left their homes as a result of bombings, APA reports.
