Turkish PM seeks concrete steps among Turkish Communities

The 10th Congress of Friendship, Brotherhood, Cooperation of Turkish-speaking Countries and Communities has begun in Antalya. Delivering the opening speech of the convention, PM Erdogan said that more concrete steps should be taken for greater solidarity in the Turkic world and he called for mutual economic cooperation.

Erdogan suggested three proposals to bolster "permanent" relations among Turkic communities, Cihan News Agency reports.

Accelerating mutual economic investments especially in the energy sector, and cultural works should be conducted towards a unity of language and history, and greater cooperation in the political arena, including the issues of Turkish Cyprus and the Nagorno Karabakh, were Erdogan's three offers.

The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus President Mehmet Ali Talat and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev were among the participants at the convention.

Coordinated by Turkish State Minister Besir Atalay this year, the convention has been organized since 1993 in order to boost the friendship, brotherhood and cooperation among the Turkish speaking countries and communities.

Over a thousand people have been invited to the convention from eight countries apart from Turkey, six federal states, two autonomous republics and 11 communities in addition to around 100 bureaucrats and experts from Turkish state institutions.
