EP adopts Turkey report without genocide clause

The European Parliament (EP)adopted a critical report on Turkey's accession to the European Union on Wednesday afternoon.

The non-binding report was adopted 320-282.

Following amendments to the resolutions, the EP also deleted a clause that would have made recognition of the mass killing of Armenians in Ottoman Turkey as "genocide" a pre-condition for Turkey's membership. However, the parliament stil called on Turkey to acknowledge the Armenian genocide.
