During the meeting, Pour-Mohammadi pointed to the two countries' cordial relations and said, "The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan are capable of solving their differences and they may never allow others to impose their goals and intentions on these two countries."
He further reiterated that Iran and Azerbaijan should not let others to intrude into their problems and relations.
Stating that Iran and Azerbaijan enjoy entirely secure borders, the official noted the two countries' abundant common interests in the Caspian Sea region, and expressed the hope that both states would enjoy their Caspian interests through an immediate implementation of the agreements already signed.
He viewed security of the Caspian region as very crucial and called for the increase of cooperation for administering Caspian-related affairs in the best possible manner.
"We should turn the Caspian Sea into a sea of peace and friendship and do not allow other powers or countries to intervene in its affairs through their presence there," the minister underscored.
He further referred to Iran's efforts to help to the peaceful settlement of the disputes in the Caucasus and Karabachos in the past, and praised the two countries' excellent ties.
Reminding that Iran's historical background proves that it has always refrained from aggressing against other countries, he added, "Americans and western countries are fully informed of our activities and goals, yet they always show strong opposition to the progress and development of our country."
"They, in fact, worry about the progress of the countries in our region, since once these states turn into advanced states, they will become strong rivals for the West," he continued.
The interior minister also underlined that the Iranian nation has chosen its path, and "while it is fully loyal to the international rules and regulations, it will never become fearful of the threats posed by the enemies and those with ill-intentions."
He said Iran will not allow the US or Israel achieve their objectives through forming secret networks in the region.
Saying that Iran is entitled to all forms and manifestations of development, Pour-Mohammadi stressed that any nation which recognizes and insists on its rights, will no doubt attain what it deserves, and added, "And the same is true in the case of Azerbaijan."
Also noting Iran's efforts and supportive measures in the face of the Afghan crisis as well as the Islamic Republic's strong support for the establishment of stability and security in Iraq, he called for the reinvigoration of ties with the Republic of Azerbaijan, and assured the other side that Tehran would spare no efforts in this regard.
For his part, Azerbaijan's Minister of Internal Affairs Ramil Usubov appreciated his Iranian counterpart for his positive stances, and stressed he would take into consideration the said views and positions in the regulation and strengthening of mutual ties.
Noting organized crimes and the problem of drug trafficking in his country, he praised Iran's enthusiasm for fighting against crime and consolidating mutual cooperation.
To conclude his remarks, the Azeri official highlighted the influence and vitality of security as the main pillar for economic activities. Fars News Agency
