Turkic leaders supports Turkey's bid to join EU

Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan voiced support for Turkey's bid to join the European Union, saying that it would help boost regional development.

"The EU accession of Turkey, which is an important country in the Eurasian geography, will accelerate political, economic and social development in the region and strengthen relations between the EU and the region," a joint declaration by leaders of the four nations and Turkey said. The document was adopted at the end of a regional cooperation summit in Turkey's Mediterranean city of Antalya, Anatolia news agency reported.
