Azeri, UAE Presidents hold talks

Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan of the United Arab Emirates met face-to-face at Almushrif Palace in Abu Dhabi on November 20.

Both leaders expressed satisfaction with Azerbaijan-UAE relations now developing in various directions, and called this visit by the Azerbaijani President very important for strengthening ties between the two countries.

They expressed confidence that corollary of this visit will be the most effective use of existing potentialities of the countries to cooperate in various fields.

During the talks, the Presidents touched upon Azerbaijan-UAE cooperation within international organizations and the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno Karabakh. President Ilham Aliyev informed his UAE counterpart on bitter consequences of the Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan, and the on-going peace process, AzerTAg informs.

The two leaders reviewed prospects of bilateral economic cooperation, chiefly in investments and tourism, it said. They also discussed regional and international issues.

Aliyev said that his visit was aimed at "building bridges of cooperation and coordination in the interest of the two peoples," according to WAM, which did not say how long the visit would last.

After the meeting 12 intergovernmental documents on cooperation in different spheres were signed between Azerbaijan and UAE, the APA reports.
