Iranian VP meets with Azeri Deputy PM

During the meeting, Dawoodi stressed that Iran attaches special value and significance to the development of relations with regional and neighboring states in all the different spheres, including economy.

He further pointed to the historical, cultural and religious commonalities of the Iranian and Azeri nations, and reiterated the necessity for the expansion of the two countries' ties in all the different areas, including energy, industry and road and power plant construction.

Reminding that all regional nations are entitled to utilize shared resources, he underlined the need for the utilization of the shared Caspian resources by the Caspian Sea littoral states.

"In addition to accelerating the legal regime of the Caspian Sea, the littoral states should have a share of the utilization of the resources available to the benefit of their nations," the Iranian first vice president underscored.

For his part, Azeri deputy Prime Minister Yaqub Eyyubov said that the two countries' ties serve mutual interests, and mentioned that the development and deepening of economic cooperation consolidates Iran-Azerbaijan relations.

To end his remarks, he called for the enhancement of the two states' economic ties, in the energy sector in particular. Fars News Agency
