According to the Public Relations Department of Defense Ministry, at the meeting, Najjar highlighted the two sides deep rooted religious and historical ties and said such commonalties require expansion of all-out ties between the two countries.
Expansion of relations with neighboring states and Azerbaijan is among the top priority in Iran's foreign policy, he said adding that Iran attaches importance to expansion of political and defense cooperation with the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Expressing satisfaction with the expansion of ties between the two countries, he voiced Iran's readiness to transfer its experience in the defense, technical and industrial sectors to Azerbaijan.
Underlining the need to further bolster peace and stability in the region, he underlined that regional issues should be resolved through constructive talks.
The Azeri minister, for his part, voiced satisfaction with his current visit to Iran and said the Republic of Azerbaijan welcomes expansion of ties with powerful Iran.
He expressed the hope that his current visit would have concrete results on expansion of all-out defense cooperation.
Prior to the first round of meeting between the two ministers, the Azeri minister was officially welcomed by his Iranian counterpart. IRNA
