Working group on political prisoners meets

Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Azerbaijan National Committee chief Arzu Abdullayeva told APA that NGO appeals to the state on releasing political prisoners were discussed at the session. NGO representatives urged the state to release political prisoners in bad health.

Abdullayeva noted that governmental officials wanted the term 'political prisoner' to be replaced.

"Governmental officials replaced the term 'political prisoner' with 'probable political prisoner.' But the most important thing is to ensure their release," he said.
