Turkmen Defense Minister and 140 officials arrested

He said that about 140 officials were arrested together with Defense Minister. Khanamov considers that these arrests were realized it's way to presidency.

"The arrest of the Defense Minister shows that the officers of special secret bodies control the events," he said.

The former leader of Agzibirlik opposition movement Nurverdi Nurmammadov was also arrested December 23, APA reports.

The Assembly of People's Council will be held at 16.00 (Baku time). The candidates to the presidency are expected to be put up in the assembly.
