Azeri envoy to Ukraine proposes to establish consulates

09 February 2007 [17:52] - TODAY.AZ
Azerbaijani ambassador to Ukraine Talat Aliyev prepared proposals on opening consulates-general and honorary consulates in a number of big regions of Ukraine.

The diplomat said that diplomatic missions can be established in Odessa, Kharkov, Donetsk.

"They are economically and industrially developed regions and a lot of Azerbaijanis live there. One diplomat can not deal with problems of about 500,000 Azerbaijanis living in Ukraine. Establishing consulates-general and honorary consulates will help to defend Azerbaijanis' rights and to solve their problems," he said.

The ambassador added that according to the agreement with Interior Minster Ramil Usubov the ministry's officers will visit Kiev to solve passport problem of Azerbaijani citizens within a month, APA reports.
