Confrontation among ADP activists

16 February 2007 [08:05] - TODAY.AZ
Chairman of Azerbaijan Democrat Party (ADP) Supreme Assembly Akif Shahbazov appealed to Justice Minister Fikret Mammadov.

The appeal says a group of men violates ADP's program and Rules and illegitimate bodies are functioning in the party. Though only chairman has the right to speak on behalf of the party, the persons dismissed from the party make subversion. Shahbazov asked the Justice Minster to take corresponding measures on the problem.

Shahbazov also appealed to the press and said that Rasul Guliyev dismissed Serdar Jalaloglu (First Deputy Chairman), Hesret Rustemov (Deputy Chairman), Rashid Mansurov and Zakir Huseynov (department chiefs) from their posts on February 10 and abolished Organizing Committee for the Preparation for the Congress. Shahbazov asked to call them former activists.

Editor-in-chief of Baku Xeber newspaper Aydin Guliyev appealed to Interior Minister Ramil Usubov. The appeal says there are reports that some men close to Serdar Jalaloglu will attack Baku xeber editorial office on February 18. Guliyev asked the ministry to protect the editorial office on that day.

ADP's Organizing Committee for Preparation for the Congress Serdar Jalaloglu told the APA that Shahbazov and Guliyev have no right to appeal on the behalf of ADP. He said Guliyev slanders and he will appeal to the court again.
