European Court of Human Rights and Azerbaijani government correspond on 4 new cases

The appeals are mostly connected with the violation of the Article 6 of European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms (Right to a fair trial) and Article 11 (Right to freedom of assembly and association).

The European Court of Human Rights and Azerbaijani government corresponded on 35 appeals in 2002-2006. 11 of them were rejected and the court made a decision on one of the appeals (Fahmin Hajiyev) against Azerbaijan. The correspondence continues on 23 cases, Chingiz Askerov, Azerbaijan's representative to European Court of Human Rights told the APA.

The European Court made decisions on two appeals within the first two months of 2007. According to the decisions made on Serdar Jalaloglu and "Homeless Baku residents" Azerbaijani government should pay compensation to these citizens.
European Court of Human Rights had received 1,478 appeals till 2007. The appeals sent from Azerbaijan cover all articles of the European Convention. The majority of the appeals are connected with the Article 6 (Right to a fair trial), Article 8 (right to respect for private life), Article 11 (right to freedom of assembly and association) and Article 1 of the First Protocol (right to property).
