The new law allows Armenian citizens to acquire citizenship of another country without losing Armenian citizenship. The law regulates issues of granting Armenian citizenship. Armenian citizenship can be granted to those who have reached 18, able to explain themselves in Armenian after getting introduced with the Constitution of the country; persons who have married with an Armenian citizen. Foreigners who receive Armenian citizenship will be freed of military service in Armenia if they have passed military service in other countries for at least 12 months.
Persons with dual citizenship can participate in elections in Armenian territory.
President, Parliamentarians and judges of the Constitutional Court cannot have dual citizenship, APA reports.
