Serdar Jalaloglu: "Some of allegations against Rasul Guliyev are just"

24 February 2007 [20:14] - TODAY.AZ
Serdar Jalaloglu-led Azerbaijan Democrat Party (ADP) held a conference today.

The preparation for the next congress and recent processes in the ADP were included in the agenda of the conference, APA reports.

Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Preparation for the Congress Serdar Jalaoglu spoke about both problems. He said that for the first time ADP holds conference in the hall without Rasul Guliyev’s portrait. Noting that ADP had been ruled according to the Party Rules by 1998, he said that this was substituted by authoritarian ruling.

"We have organized about 1000 protest actions up to now, 95% of them were connected with Rasul Guliyev. There were times when we held three actions in a day. We believed that Rasul Guliyev will return and play an important role in the solution of problems. But on October 17, 2005 we saw that he avoids returning to Azerbaijan. We exaggerated Rasul Guliyev's personality and as a result of it the party began to be governed by his position, ignoring the Rules. Rasul Guliyev brought totalitarianism trends. Differentiation appeared in the party," he said.

Jalaloglu said that some of the actions offered by Rasul Guliyev were ordered by a group of governmental officials.

"We knew afterwards, that some got $100,000 for the actions we held concerning Rasul Guliyev’s rights. The party became a source of corruption for a group of people. Rasul Guliyev did not believe us. He believed the people who did nothing," he said.

Serdar Jalaloglu noted that 90% of the allegations against Rasul Guliyev were groundless. “But some of the allegations are just,” he said.

The chairman told the party will be ruled according to the Rules and hold a congress in May.

Jalaloglu informed the conference participants of the decision adopted with regard to constructivism and political dialogue and said that ADP, Popular Front Party Azerbaijan Liberal Party and Musavat will conduct political dialogue with the government. Chairmen of region organizations and members of Supreme Assembly also made speeches.
