Working group on Caspian status meet in Tehran

27 February 2007 [08:30] - TODAY.AZ
The next meeting of the working group of five Caspian states on determining the status of the Caspian Sea is being held in Tehran.

The experts led by Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov represent Azerbaijan in the meeting, APA reports quoting diplomatic sources.

The experts of Caspian states are discussing the text of the final declaration that will be raised to the discussion of heads of states. If the text is coordinated the date of the presidents’ summit will also be coordinated.

The summit is expected to be held in Tehran. It is not ruled out that the Foreign Ministers of the Caspian states will meet before the summit.

The working group last met in Tehran on December 6-7 and agreed on holding one more meeting by the end of the year. But it was delayed due to the death of Turkmenistan's President Saparmurat Niyazov.
