President Aliyev addresses to nation on Azerbaijani genocide day

Reminding that this day is marked every year at the initiative of the then Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev since 1998, President Ilham Aliyev noted that this date is related with the robberies and massacres of Armenian armed units against Azerbaijanis in March, 1918 and have a broad chronology.

"Within nearly 200 years, Armenians carried out military, political, ideological policies, and all these aimed to oppress Azerbaijani and remove from their native lands, to occupy new lands and to build "great Armenian state." Removal of great number of Armenians to Karabakh and Zengezur from Iran and the Ottoman Empire in early 19th century, mass massacres and robberies committed by Armenian forces in different parts of the Caucasus in 1905 and 1918, deportation of our compatriots from their native lands in Armenian territory during 1948 -1953, the large-scale war for occupying the Nagorno Karabakh province of Azerbaijan, which started in 1988 and bitter consequences of this war, Khojaly genocide in 1992 are the bloody pages of a planned genocide policy committed by Armenian aggressors against Azerbaijani people. At present 20% of Azerbaijani territory is under Armenian occupation," Azerbaijani president underlined.

The head of the state stressed that we have two closely related duties.

"To liberate occupied territories, to ensure returning of internally displaced persons to their original lands, and to deliver the truths about genocide of Azerbaijanis to the world community and expose Armenians are our forthcoming duties," the president stressed.

The president stressed that we should bear in mind that Armenians have "rich experience" in the field of propaganda and disinformation, have organized lobbies and influential Diaspora organizations in some countries.

Ilham Aliyev noted that the events organized by our compatriots in some counties should be continuously and more sublime.

Azerbaijani President has expressed his assurance that we will achieve restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty and exposure of the ones who carried out genocide policy against our people.

"We commemorate the memories of the victims of genocide and wish our people welfare and happiness," the president concluded. APA
