Caspian states FMs to meet in Tehran

16 May 2007 [15:50] - TODAY.AZ
Foreign Ministers of the Caspian states are expected to meet in Tehran in the second half of June.

The main aim of the meeting is to debate on arrangements for the Caspian states Presidents' summit. The summit where the draft convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea will be debated will be possibly held in Tehran. The recent meeting of the working group preparing the draft of Caspian’s status was held at the level of deputy foreign ministers in Ashgabat.

Though the sides agreed on several terms of the Caspian Convention there still remains divergence. Azerbaijan, Russia and Kazakhstan have concluded bilateral and trilateral agreements on Caspian's status, Iran and Turkmenistan rejects signing final document on the Caspian's status. APA
