Saida Gojamanly: “The year of 2007 figures in the history of Azerbaijan as a year of constant violation of the freedom of speech”

Currently, the number of political prisoners makes up 51 people, including 11 fatal cases.
She said these 11 people do not fall under amnesty act.

“These acts also exclude seriously ill reporters, which causes definite tension in the country”-the human rights activist noted.

She said, in fact, human rights are under great pressure in Azerbaijan.

“We are now captured by present-day events and western concerns . Our country may lose a fragile foundation of democracy laid 16 years ago, which is now endangered”, S. Gojamanly said.

She noted that the year of 2007 figures in the history of Azerbaijan as a year of constant violation of the freedom of speech.
