A representative of Azerbaijan in IAEA has been appointed to ensure regular transfer of information on illegal trafficking of nuclear material from Azerbaijan to IAEA database, as reported by Adil Garibov, head of the Institute on Radiation Problems under the National Academy of Science.
He said the representative was appointed by the governmental bodies of Azerbaijan.
"We have our own representative. But the contact has recently weakened. Due to the intensification of the activity in combat with terrorism and illegal trafficking of nuclear materials this issue was raised during the visit of IAEA experts to Azerbaijan.
The IAEA representative was appointed following the receipt of due proposals. A letter regarding the appointment of the representative will be sent to the organization today".
A.Garibov considered it inexpedient to name the appointed representative.
