Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan: "The recent military clashes are not connected with Georgia's intention to join NATO"

Russia has always stated that each country decides independently about participation in any coalition, said Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasili Istratov, commenting on Georgia's plans to join NATO.
He noted that at the same time Russia decides independently how it should react on the changing situation in the sense of its own security.

"It is now impossible to clarify exactly whether the recent action of Georgia's movement towards NATO will accelerate, slow down or stop", said Istratov.

He considers that the recent military clashes are not bound to Georgia's intention to join NATO.
