"Issue of holding political debates on Azerbaijani TV channels in connection with the elections remains open," Chairman of the National Television and Radio Council Nushiravan Maharramli told journalists, APA reports.

He said that the issue on debates had been envisaged in the legislation.
"If the TV channels had talk-shows, presidential candidates would have participated there. I hope the problem will be solved. The Central Election Commission and other structures have a great experience in this field. These programs should be free, but the TV channels will have the final say," he said.
Answering the question about the price policy of TV channels Nushiravan Maharramli said it was their own business.
"But in line with legislation, equal conditions should be created for the candidates," he said.
