A group of Japanese residents filed several lawsuits against Meta Platforms Inc. because of fraudulent advertising on Facebook, of which they became victims, Azernews reports.

It is noted that lawsuits were filed on behalf of 30 local residents in five local courts at once for a total amount of 435 million yen (about $ 2.8 million). We are talking about an advertisement posted on Facebook, in which, on behalf of Japanese celebrities, it was proposed to invest money in an investment fund.

In fact, none of these Japanese celebrities had anything to do with the foundation, and in fact it did not exist. The victims insist that Facebook has not taken the necessary steps to protect its users from fraudsters.

At the end of July, it was reported that Meta would pay $1.4 billion in Texas due to violations of the biometric Data Protection Act. The company recognized Facebook users' faces from photos and videos and stored this data without asking their permission.
