Iran has launched two satellites, Hudhud and Kovsar. These are the first Iranian satellites launched by the country's private sector, Azernews reports.

The Kovsar satellite is the first space product from the Omidfaza company, whose design work began in 2019. It weighs 30 kilograms and is equipped with RGB cameras. The satellite is expected to operate for about three years and features an average GSD (Ground Sample Distance) resolution of 3.45 meters, making it the first Iranian satellite with this level of resolution.

The Hudhud satellite weighs 4 kilograms, has an orbit height of 500 kilometers, and is expected to have a service life of around four years. The data from this satellite will be useful for applications in agriculture, cartography, transportation, and environmental monitoring.

The successful launch was broadcast live and was attended by the head of the Iranian Space Agency, several members of the satellite production team, and employees of the Iranian Space Research Institute.
