A third (33%) of Xiaomi smartphone users without eSIM support are using external modules to enable this technology on their devices. As a result, Xiaomi has become the leading brand in terms of the proportion of users who would like to have eSIM support on their smartphones but do not have it available by default, according to a study by Unisim, Azernews reports.

Samsung ranks second, with nearly 18% of users opting to upgrade their devices to eSIM-compatible versions. The top three brands are rounded out by Realme, which accounts for 9% of all users who have installed external eSIM modules.

The analysis also revealed that the majority of smartphone users with a SIM module (46%), including those from Xiaomi, Samsung, and Realme, are using the Android 14 operating system. This indicates that a significant portion of smartphone users is striving to stay ahead in the rapidly evolving tech world, eager to adopt the latest innovations, including eSIM support.

The rise of eSIM technology reflects a broader trend in the industry toward more flexible and streamlined connectivity solutions. As eSIM adoption increases, it is expected to become a key feature in future smartphones, reducing reliance on physical SIM cards and making it easier for users to switch networks without needing to replace their SIM cards.
