Turkey sees no threat in Iranian missiles

25 December 2009 [16:53] - TODAY.AZ
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu says his country does not consider Iran's advanced missiles a threat.
"We see no threat from our neighbors ... But we have the capacity to defeat any threat should it arise," Turkey's Zaman newspaper quoted Davutoglu as saying on Wednesday.

He was commenting on recent reports in the Turkish media that the US has asked Ankara to agree to installation of its radar systems in the country as part of a missile shield system.

Former US president George W. Bush had signed deals to base interceptor missiles in Poland and a radar system in the Czech Republic.

US President Barack Obama, however, scrapped the plan.
