The UN won't monitor elections of local authorities in Georgia [to be conducted in May] despite the request of the Georgian opposition, said Martin Nesirky, the UN Secretary General official representative, at the briefing in the UN headquarters in New York - RIA Novosti.
Yesterday the unprecedented request of the Georgian opposition, asking for the local elections to be held under the aegis of the UN, was sent.
The address was delivered to the UN Secretary General, head of the UN General Assembly, members of the UN Security Council.
The idea was initiated by Shalva Natelashvili, the leader of Laborites, who, according to his party's press service, agreed the issue in the course of his visit to the USA in November 2009.
