Iran's FM spokesman: Meeting with Afghanistan's neighboring countries to be held in Tehran

A meeting with the participation of six neighboring countries will be held in Tehran soon to discuss ways of solving the problems existing in Afghanistan, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast.

According Mehmanparast, a meeting of foreign ministers of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran, held in Islamabad last Saturday, gave positive results. "Iran together with Afghanistan and Pakistan discussed ways of solving the problems existing in the region. A tripartite meeting was organized specifically for this purpose. Positive results were received", Mehmanparast told Trend News over phone from Tehran on Thursday.

According to Mehmanparast, during a meeting in Islamabad, officials of the three countries discussed ways of solving the problems existing in Afghanistan and referring to other countries in the region. These problems cover terrorism and spread of drugs and other issues.

During the meeting of foreign ministers of three countries in Islamabad, the agreement was reached to organize a meeting of interior ministers of three countries. The meeting of Ministers of Economy will be held in the Pakistani capital of Kabul. But the meeting between ministers of security will be held in Tehran, Mehmanparast said.

"During a meeting in Islamabad, a decision was made to hold the Summit of Presidents of the three countries in this town in the nearest future. Then, a meeting with participation of six neighboring countries will be held in Tehran to discuss ways of solving the problems existing in Afghanistan," Mehmanparast said.
