President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Mevlut Cavusoglu said Tuesday they expected Greece to support the solution of the Cyprus problem.

Cavusoglu met with Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou who arrived in Strasbourg to address the PACE General Assembly.

Speaking to reporters following his meeting with Papandreou, Cavusoglu said that they expected Greece to make a contribution for a solution in Cyprus.

During our talks today, efforts for reform in the Council of Europe came up, Cavusoglu said.

Answering a question on Turkey's EU process and Cyprus, Papandreou said that EU membership was Turkey's most natural right.

"Such a goal was affirmed at the summit in 1999," Papandreou said.

With this reality, Turkey has certain responsibilities towards the EU in such areas as rights of religious minorities and good neighborly relations, Papandreou said.

I have sent a letter to Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and have invited him to Athens to discuss several issues, Papandreou also said.
