Armenian gov't proposes new tax bill

The Armenian government has proposed a new set of taxes, of which the land and property tax will be considered obligatory.
At the parliamentary session on Feb. 2, Territorial Administration First Deputy Minister Vache Terteryan presented the draft law “About Taxes: About Making Amendments and Additions to Armenian Law.”

The new bill sets out to determine new local taxes including hotel tax, sales tax, incomplete construction tax, uncultivated land significant for agriculture tax and a tax on lands with no purpose to be used, but which are significant for building, a tax on displaying advertising in buildings belonging to communities, a tax on public transport stops and stations and a tax on occupying public spaces.

These taxes will be implemented at the discretion of local government bodies.

According to Terteryan, in the future, corresponding draft laws will be proposed for each type of tax.
