The body of Nodar Kumaritashvili, the luger who died in a horrific training accident at the Winter Olympics, arrived in Georgia Wednesday for an emotional homecoming.
Draped in a Georgian flag, Kumaritashvili's coffin was carried through an honour guard of young athletes after arriving in the early morning hours at Tbilisi airport, from where the dead sportsman was taken to his native village of Bakuriani.
Relatives, friends and those who were horrified with the death of the sportsman, are gathered at his home to pay final tribute to the athlete.
Part of Georgian delegation returned to Georgia too, the head of the Olympic Committee, Gia Natsvlishvili and the coach and the uncle of the hero athlete, Felix Kumaritashvili, stopped the visit to Canada and arrived home, too.
