The Turkish-Azerbaijani Friendship and Cooperation Fund chairman Ihsan Dogramaci has died at age of 95 years, CNN Turk reported.
Dogramachi died at the hospital of the Hojatepe University a result of multiple organ failure.
Professor Ihsan Dogramachi was born April 3, 1915 in Iraqi Erbil city in Iraqi Turkmen family. After graduating from the Medical Faculty of the Istanbul University, he practiced in a hospital in Ankara. In 1949, was Associate Professor of the Medical Faculty of the Ankara University, and in 1954 - professor. In different years he was rector of Ankara University, Middle East Technical University, lectured at the University of Paris.
In 1964-1973 he was a member of the Board of the Conference of European Rectors, from 1981 until his death was a member of the Committee of the Board of the International Conference on Higher Education.
Founding the first private Turkish University of Bilkent in 1985, Dogramachi was honorary member of India, France's National Medical Academies, the U.S. Academy of Paediatricians, Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, and was awarded numerous awards of various countries.
His son Ali Dogramachi is the current rector of the Bilkent University.
Besides Turkish, he spoke in English, French, German, Arabic and Persian languages.
