Christian Democratic Movement objects to the re-opening of the Larsi check point, accusing government of Georgia of ignoring security guarantees for the residents of the border region.
MP Nika Laliashvili of the party briefed in this regard today and said that considering the fact that along with cargo, passengers will be also allowed to cross the border, the possibility of provocations from Russia was quite real.
Christian Democrats believe the government made a rush decision.
"Re-opening of the Larsi checkpoint contradicts the national interests of Georgia. We think that the interests of local population should not be given as a change for diplomatic reverences from Russia. Georgian government failed to make proper security guarantees for the people residing in the vicinities of the border," Laliashvili said.
