During a 2-day private visit to Georgia, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met in Batumi with his Georgian counterpart Mikheil Saakashvili to discuss bilateral relations and opening of Upper Lars checkpoint.
"I believe that the unclouded relations our countries enjoy is first of all our peoples’ merit. Each summer Batumi welcomes numerous tourists from Armenia. Besides, there is a large number of Armenians living here. There are Armenian churches,” he said, adding that ethnic groups in Georgia live in peace.
President Sargsyan for his part voiced hope for further development of the Armenian-Georgian relations.
