Italian police Wednesday carried out raids on suspects allegedly involved in smuggling weapons to Iran, Italian media reported.
"Operation Sniper", which was led from the northern city of Milan, was also aimed at suspected members of the Iranian secret services.
Italians and other foreigners were reported to have been illegally exporting weapons to Iran, which is under an international arms embargo.
The police had nine arrest warrants though it was unclear how many people were actually arrested.
