Georgian President: 'Our country stands on own two feet'

12 March 2010 [13:30] - TODAY.AZ
The Georgian people have shown the world that the country can stand firmly on its own two feet, Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili told journalists today.

"The people have shown the world that they can stand firmly on their own two feet, but experience has shown that we should not depend only on one market and we are doing this successfully," he said.

The president said Russia was convinced that the embargo has not had the desired effect and has lost all meaning. Saakashvili commented on the possible return of Georgian products to the Russian market, noting that if this happens it will be a credit to the Georgian people.

According to the president, Russia's embargo showed that Georgian products should not depend on only one market and should be as widely represented on other world markets as possible.
