Iranian president calls to be ready for possible earthquake in Tehran and its consequences

This morning, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who inspected the "Basharat" asylum, envisaged for people in emergency situations, said that today more than 13.7 million people live in Tehran province and "we must be prepared for any event that might happen in Tehran".

"The probability of an earthquake in Tehran should be kept under serious control and in order to be prepared for this natural disaster, it needs to constantly keep preparedness, and the readiness of all agencies should be verified," said Ahmadinejad.

The earthquake killed 31,000 people, destroyed ancient clay fortress.

The most devastating earthquake in Iran is considered to be 7.7 points on the Richter scale, occurred in 1990. The earthquake killed about 37,000 people wounded over 100,000 people in the provinces of Gilan and Zanjan.
