Armenia is in third place among the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), second only to Russia and Ukraine, when it comes to mobile telecommunication penetration, said International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Secretary-General Hamadoun Touré.
In a meeting with Armenian Russian University students, Touré said that in the past 5 years, up to early 2009, customers of Armenia’s mobile communications market had risen to 90% and in the beginning of last year, the level of market permeability was at 100%.
The ITU Secretary-General noted that this registers an influential growth in the information technology sector.
According to the Brainbench Global Skills IT report for 2006, Armenia ranked second in the world, after the US, in the number of IT certifications received per capita.
